Kurá Hulanda village the pearl in Willemstad you must visit
When you enter Kurá Hulanda Village, you enter the most beautiful piece of UNESCO world heritage of Curacao. From hidden gem to one of the nicest and most vibrant neighborhoods of Curacao. It is therefore an absolute must visit during your stay on Curacao.
This bustling “town” with beautiful colored and historic buildings in the middle of Willemstad and the beautiful historic Otrobanda district has something for everyone.
Kura Hulanda Village is centered around an attractive square with various restaurants, terraces and boutiques. But there is more! During your trip to Curacao, be sure to visit this gem in Willemstad.
The museum shows an impressive piece of history about the time of the transatlantic slave trade. There is also an extensive collection of African artefacts, including masks, statues and utensils on display.
There are several boutiques with beautiful clothing, interior accessories and jewelry. Some shops sell handmade, local souvenirs and gifts. There is even a small chocolate shop and a lionfish shop where you can buy beautiful souvenirs made from lionfish
The tastiest burgers with fries can be found at BRGR HAUS (where you can also drink delicious specialty beers!). If you prefer fine dining, Caleo is highly recommended! You can also go to Florès, Rustiq or Viva pizza e pastabar, and afterwards you can get a delicious ice cream at Il Gelato.
Have you always wanted to try lionfish? At Lionfish Caribbean you can do a lionfish tasting between 12 and 3. You can also buy jewelry with lionfish in it or take a workshop.
There is also regular live music on Friday and Saturday evenings, there are regular nice markets and every first Thursday of the month there is ‘Night at the Village’ and every second Saturday of the month there is ‘Market at the Village’. Some practical information; there is parking at the entrance or in Otrobanda itself.
One entrance that is easily accessible on foot is behind the restaurant ‘De Gouverneur’. It can easily be combined with a walk through Punda and Otrobanda. There are also many murals around the village.
